Assaël makes installations in which she reproduces physical, chemical, and electrostatic phenomena. She liaises with the space by modifying the pre existing structures, creating environments in which the viewer experiences a condition of instability, generating feelings of surprise, danger, and malaise. Sub consists of various materials: an iron and glass case contains a structure and a Kelvin generator, connected to two recipients containing water. Drops dripping down from two pipes are collected in containers placed on the ground. Thanks to the water and to the metal plates of the generator, electrostatic charges are produced at regular intervals, provoking a blue spark. The artist’s desire to arouse a reaction in the public is achieved thanks to the tension that is created as it waits for something to happen, and to the surprise generated by the electric spark.
