Description
Patrick Tuttofuoco, who trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera and the Politecnico of Milan, works in a range of media, including sculpture, animation, and installation, and is particularly interested in digital technology. In his practice, which brings together Modernism and Pop culture, the transformations of the urban and social environment are rendered through often playful and communicative architectural structures and elements. "Boing" stems from the collaboration between the artist and a group of friends, whose miniaturized faces appear in the video. Making an imaginary trip in virtual reality, amidst technological elements and geometric forms, the capsule-faces contribute to activating mechanisms that trigger mechanical procedures and chain reactions. Represented in Tuttofuoco’s customary ironic vein, the human face is the medium that activates the technology. The combination of ultratechnological design and bright colors, drawn from the Radical Architecture of the 1960s, make "Boing" a multimedia work in which music and image are combined with the creative potential of video animation.
