Woody De Othello Holding Back

Size
cm 61 x 46
Description
Starting from the relationship between objects and architecture and their human counterparts, De Othello is capable of portraying the intangible atmosphere that exists alongside the physicality of the scene. The bright colors, which are often in pastel hues, and the drooping and simplified images buckling beneath the weight of an invisible pressure create a fascinating tension that pulsates with energy in spite of a flaccid and wilted appearance. The emotional condition becomes as real as the material world that induces it. This is the case of Holding Back, a work in which the color stain merges with the chair, incorporating the figure and provoking the contortion of the body and the emptying out of the surrounding circumstances. This effect is accentuated by the fluidity of the object and the subjects, conferring to these emotions qualities that are almost inanimate, while they fold and or merge the surrounding objects and subjects. De Othello tells us about the possible conceptual sources of his liquid aesthetics.
