Rossella Biscotti Il Processo (The Trial)

Size
8' 44''
Description
Rossella Biscotti’s video is a work centering on the investigation, revelation and reactivation of objects, places, and archives, capable of casting light on the layers and folds of our submerged history. The results of her many months of research are submitted to an operation of synthesis and formal re-elaboration whose reductionist nature often evokes the modernist and minimal idiom. In Il Processo (2010) Biscotti brought back to life the court case known as the “Processo 7 Aprile”, which saw the involvement of exponents and sympathizers of Autonomia Operaia between 1979 and 1988. In 2010 the high-security court of the Foro Italico where the various sessions of the trial were held was ideally reconstructed in the spaces of MAXXI using reinforced concrete casts of some of the portions of the room. The video is the documentation of one of the various public and performative readings of the transcription of the audio extract of the trial preserved in the archives of Radio Radicale, an integral part of the eponymous installation that is already a part of MAXXI’s permanent collection.
