Alterazioni Video is an artist collective founded in Milan in 2004 and based in New York and Berlin. The members of the group – Paololuca Barbieri Marchi, Alberto Caffarelli, Andrea Masu, Giacomo Porfiri, and Matteo Erenbourg – come from different backgrounds and work with different media, including video, photography, poster art, disruption, painting, performance, installation, music videos, and the Turbo Films made since 2008. Alterazioni Video’s work focuses on the relationships between reality and representation, legality and illegality, freedom and censorship. The group considers art not just an act of denunciation but also one of redemption. The installation "Incompiuto Siciliano" presented the results of a project that Alterazioni Video began working on in 2006: a map of unfinished, abandoned buildings, located throughout all of Italy and for the most part public. For the town with the highest concentration of unfinished buildings, Giarre, Sicily, Alterazioni Video came up with a paradoxical project: the creation of an Archaeological Park of Unfinished Sicilian Buildings, not just to highlight the architectural wreckage, but also to redeem the area by making it the “Capital of Unfinished Buildings”. The installation comprised three videos on monitors with interviews of the residents of Giarre and city employees and a digital print of a rendering of a spaceship, created by juxtaposing and recombining all of the projects for the unfinished buildings.
