Description
Giuseppe Caccavale (Afragola, 1960) is a professor of Mural Arts and Poetics of Spaces at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He makes his debut in the Neapolitan contemporary art circuit in 1984 when he exhibits with his first solo show at the St-Art gallery in Marigliano where he presented collages and paintings on canvas in which the figurative element appears. Starting from the 1990s the artist realizes wall paintings that derive from iconographic references.
Canapo is a characteristic work of the artist's production. As with the work Sala Consilina, which is part of the same dipinti murali (wall paintings) series, Canapo was created by tracing the figurative element on the paper surface with pencil, using simple lines.
