Founded in 1959, the Galleria Civica di Modena stages exhibitions and activities dedicated to photography and contemporary art. It houses, adds to and valorises two permanent collections: the Drawing Collection, with more than 4,000 sheets mainly by 20^th-century Italian artists, and the Photography Collection, with more than 4,000 works by some of the leading international contemporary photographers. On long-term loan from the Archbishopric of Modena, it also houses the Don Bettelli Graphic Art Collection.
