The Museion – Museo d’arte moderna e contemporanea of Bolzano was founded in 1985. Since 2008 it has been housed in a new venue designed by the KSV studio of Berlin. Thanks to an exhibition programme of international breadth, the Museion has stood out as one of the main contemporary art museums in Italy and throughout the Alpine area.

The collection features over 4,500 works, displayed on a rotation basis in thematic itineraries, often in dialogue with other public and private collections. It reflects the history and the exhibition choices of the museum over time.

With a view to bringing experience of the contemporary sphere closer to the general public, the Museion proposes a varied programme of mediation and events. The multi-media façade lights up the city with screenings of artists’ videos and the ‘Passage’ space, open to external events, making Museion a point of reference for a range of contemporary cultural events.
